Peace and Plenty: Large Tole Painted Late 18th Century Tobacco/Snuff BoxPeace and plenty, how to argue with that? And it looks to me like a pair of bee skeps here, side by side, used to illustrate the phrase a pair of happy colonies, coexisting in peace. I know this is English, c. 1790s an early one, painted tin, and a large one,for tobacco or snuff. I love how wonderfully folky the lettering is and those freehand curlicues, perhaps suggesting bees buzzing around! 5 7 8" w x 3 3 8" d x 1 3 16" t and in good condition.
