Beautiful Early Slate with Wooden Nails and Tin Wrapped Corner MendA beauty of an early handmade slate, earlier 19th c. than later I believe, with carved wooden pegs holding the jointed corners and one beautifully executed wrapped tin corner mend. I do believe antique school slates are a most wonderful thing to collect, each having lived quite a life, with old repairs like this enabling their endurance and making them special.
